Met with Vincent Palombo to discuss idea. It was the first meeting, so our agenda was to simply decide on something that I could do and that he would find a use of. He spoke about planning to create a website for Nexus' Science Department, but caveated it by saying that it might have to wait until next year to be opened, since the whole syllabus (as well as exam board) for Science is Nexus is undergoing changes. Still, he proposed web design as a possible option, but since I have little to no knowledge of such things, I was hesitant to accept, afraid of the learning curve that I would have to overcome.
He also spoke of creating a bank of revision videos that learners in Nexus could use. Specifically, learners in my year (11) undertaking their science IGCSE exams. This would entail me to first educate myself on a certain topic and afterwards create videos that my fellow classmates would find accessible and useful for their science revision. Whilst this was more comfortable to me than the idea of pursuing a product grounded in web design, it still didn't totally appeal to me.
Seeing my lack of enthusiasm for these two proposals, he then asked me what I wanted to do. Jumping at this opportunity, I said that I was very interested in the idea of making a video - and, after hearing him share his ideas of a future Nexus Science Department website, I came up with the proposal to make a video of Nexus' Science Department. This would serve as the first thing any visitor of the website would see, and would give them a brief, short and sweet look of what Science in Nexus is like.
Shortly thereafter, we made the agreement. A video is what I would make.

After my weekly physics lesson, I approached Mr Palombo once more and asked whether he could draw in broad terms any ideas he had come up with for the video.
To summarise things in bullet-point form, these are the things he said of the video:
- It had to accurately portray what learning science at Nexus is like. From field trips to places such as the F1 circuit in Ampang and the Aquarium in KL to classroom life, learning with a mixture of Macbooks, notebooks and old-fashioned whiteboards, the video had to be a real, accurate, representation of what learning science at Nexus is like.
- Tongue-in-cheek. He explained that an overtly serious tone to the video wouldn't be necessary, and that he was partial to the idea of the video being more tongue-in-cheek.

After he briefly emailed me enquiring as to the date I had to finish my product by (which I replied "preferably by the end of November"), he then sent me a list of things that he would like to be included within the video.

After our conversation, I was presented with an issue. I needed to get shots of the aquarium because it was part of the criteria that had been suggested by my client.

I then proceeded to have a discussion on what to do with my client after my science lesson, the outcome of which was that we decided to have another teacher that was attending the trip to carry a camera to get a few shots. Afterwards, I talked with that teacher and told him what I wanted - "Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just keep it nice and stable and make sure the subject is clear."

I was then able to receive the shots from the teacher.

After editing the project together, I sent an email to Mr Vincent, and this is the reply I received from him:

As the last thing to do, ending the project, I needed his comments on each of the success criteria points that I had set myself. This would fit into the "fitness for purpose" section of my blog.
Quickly afterwards, he sent his reply, which I proceeded to add into the 'Fitness for Purpose' section of my blog.
